About

One of India's most sacred Ramayana pilgrimage sites straddling Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Ram, Sita, and Lakshman spent 11.5 years of exile here. The Kamadgiri hill's 5km parikrama, Sati Anusuya Ashram, and Mandakini River ghats make it deeply atmospheric.

Must-see highlights

Kamadgiri Parikrama (holy hill, 5km circuit)
Ram Ghat — Mandakini River boat ride
Gupt Godavari caves (Lord Ram meditated here)
Sati Anusuya Ashram forest walk
Hanuman Dhara (spring on cliff face)
Bharat Milap Temple
Janaki Kund (where Sita bathed)
Sphatik Shila (where Ram & Sita sat)
Ramghat evening aarti
Valmiki Ashram
