Perched at 2,000 ft in the Vindhya Range, Mandu (Mandavgarh) is a ruined city of 15th-century Afghan sultanate palaces, mosques and tombs. The legend of Baz Bahadur and Rani Roopmati haunts every monument. Monsoon transforms the plateau into a sea of green.
